Tania Kovats | Untitled

We are pleased to announce the installation of Untitled by Tania Kovats on the Foundation's grounds. This is the first work by Kovats to become part of the Foundation's ever-changing display. Untitled is made of two long stone monoliths, smooth slate-coloured surfaces contrast with the rough, craggy side profiles, hewn to expose the rhythmic strata running through the rock. One a bench, the other a counter, each stone mirrors the other, separated by a chasmic void - a Grand Canyon in miniature. Read more

Peter Saville designs England football shirt

Design legend Peter Saville, best known for his album covers for Factory Records, has designed the new England football shirts for Umbro, which they will wear on their Euro 2012 qualifying match on Friday against Bulgaria, reports Creative Review . Saville's contribution is to have tiny sewn crosses in different colours on the shoulder area of the shirt, referencing trends from menswear tailoring - Umbro are also tagging the shirts 'tailored by Umbro'. It's attracting rather a lot of criticism, as the crosses can't really be seen by cameras during games, though reportedly Saville's brief was to include colour on the shirt whilst keeping the shirt white.

World's richest man to open museum for his Rodins in Mexico

Carlos Slim, the world's richest man, is soon to open a museum in his home country of Mexico, reports Reuters. Slim's Soumaya museum, named for his late wife, is expected to open in November, and will house his collection of artwork by French sculptor Auguste Rodin, considered the biggest outside France. The museum, designed by son-in-law Fernando Romero, is a six-story, chimney-shaped structure covered in shiny panels. It will be the anchor of a new development, including offices, apartments and retail, that Slim is building in western Mexico City with an initial investment of $750 million.

Co-owner of Corot 'drunkenly lost' painting identified as being recognised art thief

Update: Earlier we reported that a courier was being sued for losing a painting on a drunken night out, but now, as Associated Press reports, the case has been dropped and the plot thickens. The painting, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot's Portrait of a Girl (1857) was, it appears, owned by more than one person, and owner Kristyn Trudgeon, who was bringing the case against the courier James Carl Haggerty, has now dropped the case. This is because the painting's co-owner, Thomas Doyle, has been identified as a recognised art thief. Doyle pleaded guilty in 2007 to the theft of an Edgar Degas sculpture from a wealthy collector, and spent two and a half years in jail. Attempts have been made to cont...

Back then Young, in the guise of her alter-ego Sherry, masturbated and peed on stage, and delivered a tirade of insults to fellow artist Georgia Sagri, who was also on the performance weekend's bill. Sagri reacted, from the audience, and reportedly had to be restrained, before Bisenbach stepped in and ordered the electricity to be cut. 26 August, 2010 - Canon 60D Announced Along With Six New L Series Lenses

'Tis the season for new product announcements. By showing us aspects of popular culture anachronistically, and from so many different points of view, he exposes the false hierarchy of high and low art and prompts us to consider the more interesting differences between the cultural industries and the art world. Shearer's intelligence and originality a...
